FO: More Blue Sewing- A Moneta Dress and Juniper Cardigan

So, I had to hem a bridesmaids dress, and as it was in chiffon, I decided the easiest way to do it would be a rolled hem on the overlocker, which worked very well!   While I had blue thread on my overlocker I though it would be efficient and wise to sew up ALL THE BLUE FABRICS! Which is exactly what I've done.

In one evening I cut out the blue Lady Skater dress I showed you last week and this Colette Moneta dress and the Jennifer Lauren Juniper cardigan.  As all three items were sewn up on the overlocker they were really quick to come together.

I last made a Moneta dress for the Moneta party in January of last year when I was 6 months pregnant.  I made a couple and raised the bodice to an empire line for space for the bump to grow, which worked really nicely.  The Moneta is exactly the kind of fit and flair style I like to wear, and seeing as it's made up in jersey they are perfect for mumming, and spending half your day on the floor in comfort.

This fabric is a remnent of a single printed jersey from the local rag market, probably costing around £1/m.  It was just short of what I needed for the moneta so I had to cut out the back skirt in two pieces and sew a back seam.  Seeing as the print is so busy, it is hardly noticeable so I don't mind.  I'm still unsure how much I like the fabric, but I do like the finished dress so I'm sure it'll get a lot of wear.

The Cardigan is a pattern I've had my eye on for ages! So I finally ordered it at the beginning of May.  Every year I take part in Me Made May and find the same hole in my handmade wardrobe- jumpers and cardigans!  I've sewn a couple of Grainline Lindon sweatshirts in the last year but I still hadn't sewn or knitted myself any cardigans to wear with my dresses.

The Juniper ended up taking maybe three hours to sew together, which make me kick myself and ask why I hadn't bothered before!  The fabric is the blue 'true knit' fabric from Crafty Sew & So, which is perfect for jumpers and cardigans.  I've got some in pink I want to make another cropped cardi from and then I would like to get the mint green colour from Crafty too if I'm still feeling motivated.
